About

I’m Jamie, and I have a ton of different interests. You may have ended up here for a number of reasons. Welcome!

I was born and raised in Florida and studied video game development in college. I moved around searching for the elusive game designer career until I got tired of studio closures and decided I wanted to stay in Colorado. That meant transitioning out of the game industry and into regular web-based software engineering. I spent over a decade fiddling with the code for internet advertising and music streaming services. In 2023, I departed that path to pursue the publication of my novel series, which had been a lifelong hobby until that point.

While I’m querying for agents and revising the second book, I’ve combined all my disparate selves into one online presence. My blog entries will follow this process of self-discovery and touch on a lot of different hobbies or passions. The central theme for all of this is that I have ADHD and I’m generally “rather odd” — I’m definitely neurodivergent, but I don’t have a diagnosis beyond ADHD.

In a given month, I will gravitate between lots of interests. I like to have about four things going on at a time; more is overwhelming, and less becomes boring. Since my revamped social presence doesn’t date back earlier than mid-2023, there isn’t much content for most of these interests, but rest assured, I’ll get there.

My constant loves are reading, writing, cats, bird watching, Tarot, nail polish, crocheting, and knitting. I also make hand-rolled beeswax candles and the occasional piece of jewelry. I know how to build a gaming PC (although I play my Switch much more) and enjoy burying myself in RPGs, sims, or survival games. I low-key collect old video games, vintage Pyrex, and midcentury-American cookbooks. I’m an inconsistent hobbyist of cross stitching, embroidery, needle felting, chainmail/maille jewelry, weaving, macrame, and coloring. I watch a ton of movies, but mostly weird or cheesy ones and mostly horror. I’m almost constantly listening to true crime podcasts, but I struggle to enjoy audiobooks. I love vampires, werewolves, science fiction (both Star Trek and Star Wars, thankyouverymuch), Stephen King, Air Jordans, skulls, staring at the clouds, tent camping, taking photos of moss, finding cool rocks, and listening to people gush about their favorite pastimes.
